To the South of Nottingham city center, close to the bank of the River Trent. Three very large gravel pits have been transformed into 3 separate lakes and a marina that leads onto the River Trent.
The Colwick Lakes complex has three entrances all with plenty of free parking. At either end of the lakes are childrens play parks.
The whole of Colwick lakes can be accessed via fairly level gravel and/or tarmack paths to all parts of the park, with good access to the waters edge.
The lakes are a good location for photographs of water birds and wild flowers & blossom.
It's also possible to get the odd sunset picture across the lakes and/or the river. Lots of fairly tame Geese and ducks. Across the river from the main lake is Holme Pierrepont National Water sports center.
Colwick Park located between Nottingham Racecourse and the River Trent - so the best way to find it is to follow the 'brown' tourist info signs for the Racecourse.
