| Gunthorpe. Located in between Nottingham and Newark on Trent off the A6097. Take either the turning to Gunthorpe village or the narrow lane on the north side of the bridge over the Trent (Gunthorpe Bridge). There's a pub/hotel right by the river with it's own car part at the waters edge. If you want a few photographs of the bridge then stop here. |
But the best place to visit is further along past the pub, just carry on along the lane at the edge of the river.
This leads to a car park and tea rooms at Gunthorpe Lock - You can see the lock and narrow boats from the car park. If you do fancy a little walk, there's a wide footpath along the side of the lock and on along the river bank. In the Spring the fields are full of buttercups. |
