Olympus Camedia C4000 Zoom. 4 mega pixel digital camera with 3 X zoom. This was my first camera of any type and it was (is) a great learning tool. I used the auto modes to take most pictures, as with most compact digital cameras the manual mode is hard to set and use.
All of the Lake District and a few of the Derbyshire photos on the site were taken with this camera, as were some of the close ups of flowers. As with all Olympus cameras it's got a great little lens and is capable of very detailed pictures. The close-up macro mode is excellent - much better than the standard lens provided with most SLR digital cameras.
Panasonic FZ 30. (only a few with this camera). Great camera from Panasonic with 8 mega pixels, a 12 x zoom and image stabilization. One of the best non-SLR digital cameras around. The imagine stabilization makes it good for quick handheld 'of the moment' photographs.
Canon EOS 20D. A nice SLR
camera from Canon with 8.2 mega pixels, still has good auto modes but the manual modes are much easier to use and set than on a compact
digital camera.
Canon 5D mk2. used with a 17-40mm canon lens.
SLR cameras allow you to change lenses and fit filters to the lenses, this helps to get the best results whatever the 'light' situation. I currently have 5 lenses - a Canon 60mm Macro for close up shots, a Canon 17- 55mm Wide Angle zoom, a Canon 10-22mm ultra wide angle, a Sigma 150mm macro and a Canon L series 70-200 f2.8 zoom.
