Free Image Use

Photos may be used for FREE as web banners / backgrounds providing a link back to my site is included on your site, preferably as a credit in the footer. (**see note below)
The credit text is up to you, but this link must be included as is....

**Notes on free usage.
1. Don't link to the images directly, this is called 'hot linking'. To use an image on your site you must download it from my site to your computer and then upload it to your server / site.
2. The full resolution tiffs and JPGs are not available for free usage. The sizes on this site are more than enough for web graphics.

Photo Licensing Info

All of the photos on this site are available for commercial or personal licensing.
(A license just means i agree to let you use a photo - the type of use you intend defines the type of license.

Photographs can now be purchased as downloads or prints from my SmugMug Gallery. ** The versions of the photos in the SmugMug gallery are much higher quality jpg's than the free photos available on this site.

You can buy digital downloads in 3 sizes. A digital download is simply a copy of the image file, sized in one of three ways.

A 1Mpix image is roughly 1 megapixel in size. In English, that means a square 1 megapixel image would be about 1000 pixels wide and 1000 pixels high. For comparison, the most common resolution for computer monitors is 1024x768. So a 1Mpix image is a bit larger than common monitor resolutions.

A 4Mpix image is 4 megapixels. This is a size that allows for quality printing at most reasonable sizes. If you want to print at really large poster sizes, you would probably want a larger image.

An Original image is the exact image that has been put online. It is the original size of the image, identical in every way.

Personal License Terms

Photographer grants buyer a non-exclusive perpetual personal-use or educational use license to download and copy the accompanying image, subject to the following restrictions:

This license is for personal or educational use only. Personal or educational use means non-commercial use of the image(s) for display on personal websites and computers, or making prints for personal use.

The image(s) may not be used in any way whatsoever in which you charge money, collect fees, or receive any form of remuneration. The image(s) may not be used in advertising. The image(s) may not be resold, relicensed, or sub-licensed.

Title and ownership, and all rights now and in the future, of and for the image(s) remain exclusively with the photographer.

There are no warranties, express or implied. The image(s) are provided 'as is.'
Neither photographer nor SmugMug will be liable for any third party claims or incidental, consequential or other damages arising out of this license or buyer's use of the image(s).

Commercial License Terms

What you can do: Photographer grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to use this image for permitted commercial purposes, defined as:

• Advertising, promotion, brochures, packaging.
• As part of a commercial website for promotional purposes use.
• Prints, CD covers, Book Covers, Posters, Flyers, Tearsheets for promotional purposes (not for resale).
• Magazines, books, newspapers, other printed publications, video, broadcast, theatrical.
  
  What you may not do: Buyer may not resell, relicense, redistribute without express written permission from photographer. Use as a derivative work, and reselling or redistributing such derivative work is prohibited. Images may not be used in a pornographic, obscene, illegal, immoral, libelous or defamatory manner. Images may not be incorporated into trademarks, logos, or service marks. Image may not be made available for download.

Photographer retains all rights, license, copyright, title and ownership of the image(s).

There is no warranty, express or implied, with the purchase of this digital image file. Neither photographer nor SmugMug will be liable for any claims, or incidental, consequential or other damages arising out of this license or buyer's use of the image(s).
