National Trust Conservation area - further South down the 'coast' road from Southwold and Walberswick is
Dunwich Heath.
This is a huge area of beautiful coastal heath land with well sign posted walks through the purple heather and along the cliff tops, with great views over the North Sea.
There's also a long pebble beach, cliff top views and a coastguard cafe.
Note - Access to the pebble beach is via a fairly steep path from the cliff top car parks.
Lots of car parking throughout the Dunwich Heath land and a large car park outside the Cafe near the beach.
(can get a bit busy on hot summer weekends.)
Walberswick - A very nice unspoiled little seaside village on the Suffolk coast just south of Southwold. Large sandy beach and dunes.
WARNING - Walberswick gets very busy on Summer Weekends & holidays, they close the village off because it gets so bad. But on normal weekdays it's a nice place to send the day.
There is a small ferry boat to take foot passengers across the River Blyth to Southwold Harbour. (April onwards)
Large car parks next to the dunes. The single 'no through road' into Walberswick passes through some lovely rolling heath countryside and there are plenty of small off road car parks & walks through the heath and forests.
