A lovely little village & bay on the North Yorkshire Coast about 8 miles north west of Whitby.
Although there's a lifeboat station and slipway, Runswick isn't a fishing village - there's no harbour, just a lovely open curved bay with a sandy beach.
Runswick Bay is an unspoiled little village - no amusements, chip shops or gift shops.
There's one very nice cafe right on the sea front - but that's it for commercialism.
The village itself is built along the bottom of the cliffs on the west side of Runswick Bay, access is via a very steep road which leads down to a small car park and turning area. From the car park it's just a short walk to the sea front and sandy beach.
(Note - It can be difficult getting onto the beach at high tide)
